In November 2024 I had the pleasure to be invited to collaborate with the Kyoto Prefecture tourism board on a video presenting the forgotten era of Kan’Ei and its culture. A defining moment in Japan’s history this era shaped nowadays’ culture and activities, deeply impacting staples such as tea ceremony, ikebana and poetry.
To help audiences understand this heritage I drew connections between the past and the present while showcasing three major locations of the kan’ei culture in Kyoto: Nijojo Castle, Ninaji Temple and Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
The video was published on my Youtube channel, with also short content being posted on Shorts, Tiktok as well as Instagram Reels. Check out the video below and make sure to subscribe to my channel to see more videos about art in Japan.
